Berlin Exploration: Art, Commerce, and Cuisine
A five-mile walk from the Olympic Stadium to Dahlem offers a mix of culture, history, and modern Berlin. The route winds through quiet estates, bustling shopping streets, and past key landmarks. Along the way, visitors can explore museums, memorials, and local hotspots.
The journey starts at Olympiastadion S-Bahn or U-Bahn station, heading along Trakehner Allee into Heilsberger Allee. Soon, the path reaches the Mommsenstadion, home to Tennis Borussia Berlin. A short distance further lies the Gleis 17 Memorial, near Grunewald S-Bahn station, where around 10,000 Jews were deported during World War II.
From there, the route continues through the Eichkamp housing estate, built mostly in the 1920s with designs by well-known architects. The walk then passes the Georg-Kolbe-Grove, leading to the Georg Kolbe Museum. Currently, the museum’s 'Liaisons' exhibition—featuring works by Georg Kolbe, Herbert List, Harry Hachmeister, Jens Pecho, and Maurice Béjart—runs until March 8. The final stretch leads to Roseneck, the lively centre of Grunewald, filled with upscale shops and restaurants. The walk ends at the Brücke Museum, where 'The World Must Be Seen Anew – Paintings by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff' remains on display until February 15.
This scenic route connects two of Berlin’s cultural hubs while passing through historic and modern landmarks. Visitors can explore exhibitions, enjoy local dining, and reflect on the city’s layered past. The walk remains accessible for most, with clear signage and public transport links at either end.
