Berlin Fire Injures Three, Leaves Two Apartments Uninhabitable
A fire in Berlin-Neukölln injured three residents and left two apartments uninhabitable. The blaze started on the first floor of a multi-family building on Schöneweider Straße, with around 50 emergency responders battling the flames. Initial findings indicate a room and parts of the hallway were ablaze. Smoke spread through the stairwell, leading to extensive safety checks due to the building's construction. The fire required firefighters to open the ceiling of the affected apartment and the floor of the unit above to contain it. Illegally parked cars hindered response efforts. Owners, who were residents or drivers, had parked their vehicles in narrow streets or corners, blocking access for large emergency vehicles. This issue has previously been documented in Bremen's Goslarer Street situation in September 2023. The fire resulted in three residents sustaining minor injuries and being taken to hospital. Other residents received on-site support but remained unharmed. The fire-damaged apartment and the unit above are currently uninhabitable, leaving residents displaced.
