Berlin Fire Under Investigation After Kreuzberg Apartment Blaze
A fire broke out in a Berlin apartment building yesterday afternoon. The blaze started on a balcony in Kreuzberg's Waldemarstraße around 5:20 p.m. No one was injured, but authorities are now investigating the cause.
A local resident first noticed the flames and immediately alerted neighbours and emergency services. Firefighters arrived quickly and brought the fire under control before it could spread further.
The case has since been passed to the Berlin State Criminal Police Office's arson unit. While no official figures confirm how many similar incidents have occurred in the city over the past year, Deutsche Bahn reported one suspected arson case at Wedding S-Bahn station on New Year's Eve.
No injuries were reported in yesterday's fire. Investigators will now determine whether the blaze was accidental or deliberate. The outcome of their inquiry remains pending.
