Many smaller fires in New Year's Eve night in Berlin extinguished - Berlin firefighters battle two New Year’s Eve blazes before midnight
Berlin’s fire crews tackled two separate blazes on New Year’s Eve. One broke out on a roof in Mahlsdorf, while another struck a high-rise flat near Steglitz. Both incidents were brought under control before midnight.
In Mahlsdorf, flames erupted on a rooftop late on 31 December. A team of 28 firefighters arrived quickly to douse the blaze. Their efforts ensured the fire was fully extinguished before the clock struck midnight.
A second fire started in a high-rise building along Schlangenbader Straße, above the highway toward Steglitz. Crews responded swiftly to contain the apartment blaze. No details about the flat’s owner or the cause of the fire have been released.
Both fires were resolved without further incident. The Mahlsdorf roof blaze required a large team, while the Steglitz flat fire was handled efficiently. Authorities have not provided additional information on either case.
