Berlin hate crime probe after xenophobic attack on woman in Friedrichshain
A 33-year-old man has been accused of assaulting a 50-year-old woman in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district. The incident, which involved xenophobic abuse, took place outside a shop on Voigtstraße at around 7 p.m. Police are now investigating the case as a potential hate crime.
According to reports, the man allegedly subjected the woman to verbal abuse using xenophobic slurs. The confrontation then turned physical, with the suspect striking her in the face. The attack left the victim with a head injury and pain in her hand, though she did not require hospital treatment.
