Berlin hospitals on high alert after sabotage and espionage threats surge
Hospitals in Berlin face growing threats from sabotage and espionage, according to a new warning. The Berlin Hospital Association (BKG) has highlighted risks tied to the city’s geopolitical exposure. Officials are now pushing for stronger security measures across medical facilities. The BKG has called attention to recent suspicious activity near hospitals. Reports include drone overflights, cyberattacks, and unauthorised break-ins. These incidents have raised concerns about potential vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure. To address the risks, the association organised a briefing on Wednesday. Experts from domestic intelligence, state criminal police, and cybersecurity agencies joined the discussion. Together, they explored ways to protect hospital systems and staff. Building resilience was a key focus of the meeting. Recommendations included training employees to spot espionage tactics and identifying security weaknesses. The BKG also stressed the need for constant vigilance to prevent future threats. The briefing aimed to strengthen defences against evolving risks. Hospitals must now apply the proposed measures to safeguard operations. Authorities have not released the names of the experts involved in the discussions.
