Berlin iPhone 15 robbery turns violent as attackers flee empty-handed
A 51-year-old man was attacked in Berlin-Kreuzberg during an attempted device robbery yesterday afternoon. The incident unfolded after he arranged to sell his iPhone 15 through an online classifieds platform. Three assailants targeted him but failed to take the device before fleeing the scene.
The victim met the suspects on 15 January 2026, intending to complete the sale. Instead, the trio sprayed him with pepper spray and struck him repeatedly in an attempt to find his iPhone. Despite their efforts, they did not succeed in stealing it.
A bystander quickly intervened, detaining a 14-year-old suspect near the scene. The two remaining accomplices escaped in the direction of Potsdamer Platz. Their identities have not yet been made public. The victim sustained multiple abrasions during the assault but did not require hospital treatment.
Police confirmed the arrest of one juvenile suspect following the attack. The investigation into the two fugitives remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about their identities or whereabouts.
