Berlin pizza delivery driver escapes gunpoint threat in Hellersdorf
A pizza delivery driver was threatened at gunpoint in Berlin's Hellersdorf district on March 30, 2026. The 42-year-old worker escaped unharmed and immediately called the police, prompting a swift response from tactical units. The incident unfolded at around 5:40 p.m. in Forster Straße. A 49-year-old resident allegedly brandished a loaded handgun at the delivery employee. After fleeing the scene, the driver alerted authorities, who quickly mobilised a special police unit.
Officers obtained a search warrant and entered the suspect's apartment. There, they confiscated the handgun and ammunition before taking the man into custody. During processing, a breath test revealed his blood alcohol level was nearly 2.2 per mille. The suspect underwent formal identification and provided a blood sample. He was later released, though the case was transferred to the criminal investigation division of Directorate 3 (East) for deeper examination.
