Berlin police arrest one suspect after early-morning car break-in
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Berlin’s Tegel district early this morning after a witness spotted two men breaking into a parked car. The suspect was later found carrying stolen items from the vehicle, including an emergency hammer and a jacket. Police are now searching for his accomplice, who remains at large.
The incident took place around 2:50 a.m. on Biedenkopfer Straße. A witness alerted authorities after seeing two men forcing their way into a car. Officers arrived quickly and detained one suspect, though the second escaped.
During the arrest, the detained man suffered injuries while attempting to flee. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the targeted vehicle was seized and impounded to preserve evidence.
Investigators from Directorate 1 (North) have taken charge of the case. The arrested suspect was in possession of items stolen from the car, confirming his involvement. Police have not released the identity of the second suspect but continue to pursue leads.
The arrested man remains in custody, while the search for his accomplice is ongoing. The stolen items recovered from the suspect will be used as evidence in the investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether further charges will be filed.
