Berlin police arrest woman after failed bike theft in broad daylight
A 20-year-old German woman was taken into police custody after a failed bicycle theft in central Berlin. The incident took place on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße at around 9:15 a.m., when a passerby spotted the suspect tampering with a locked bike. Officers later found her in a nearby parking garage after a brief search.
The witness saw the young woman removing the bicycle's saddle and using its metal tube to try and break the lock. When she noticed she was being watched, she left the bike behind and hurried into a parking garage on Charlottenstraße.
The suspect is now in police custody while inquiries continue. Authorities have not released her name to the public. The case highlights ongoing efforts to address bike theft and related crimes in the area.
