Berlin police bust driver with fake licenses and suspected drugs in Schöneberg
A 33-year-old driver was apprehended in Schöneberg today during a routine traffic check. The driver was found to be under the influence of old drugs and in possession of multiple packages of suspected narcotics, along with fake driver's licenses and ID cards.
The incident occurred between 12 PM and 4 PM at the intersection of Goebenstraße and Potsdamer Straße. The driver's vehicle was stopped due to its poor condition, which led officers to suspect further wrongdoing. A search of the vehicle revealed the illicit substances and counterfeit documents.
The driver, along with his 37-year-old acquaintance, was found to have fake driver's licenses. Both individuals were taken into police custody, with the driver undergoing a blood test to confirm his suspected drug use. The case has been referred to a specialized traffic crimes unit under Directorate 4 (South) for further investigation.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, now faces charges for driving without a valid license, driving under the influence, and suspected drug trafficking. Police have confiscated the counterfeit licenses, fake ID, suspected drugs, and alleged drug proceeds pending the outcome of the investigation.
