Berlin police dismantle car theft ring after dramatic Weißensee arrests

Berlin police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 25, and a 41-year-old woman in connection with a car break-in. The arrests took place in Weißensee after the individuals were observed breaking into a vehicle in Prenzlauer Berg.

The 21-year-old was seen smashing the vehicle's side window, with the 25-year-old acting as a lookout. The woman waited in a rented car nearby. Police later found a backpack stolen from the vehicle, along with tools and electronic devices suitable for car break-ins, and additional stolen property during the arrest.

The 25-year-old was transferred to a correctional facility due to an outstanding arrest warrant, while the 21-year-old was taken into custody by the Criminal Police of Directorate 1 (North). The 41-year-old woman was released after her identity was verified. The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) is now responsible for the investigations into case 2413 and possibly additional thefts linked to the arrested individuals.

The arrests in Weißensee have led to the recovery of stolen property and potentially linked other thefts. The investigation is ongoing, with the Bundeskriminalamt now involved.
