Berlin police foil bold car theft using a tow truck in Neukölln
Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested in Neukölln after allegedly attempting to steal a Renault using a tow truck. The incident took place on Teupitzer Straße at around 7:40 p.m., with police intervening after suspicious activity was reported.
The suspects were spotted tampering with the Renault, which had its brake line and driveshaft cut. A towing eye had also been attached to the vehicle, suggesting an attempt to haul it away. One of the men was seen using an angle grinder inside the car before returning to the tow truck, where sparks were later observed near the Renault’s front wheel arch.
The case is still under investigation, with no further details about the suspects released to the public. Police have confirmed that the tools recovered and witness statements will play a key role in determining the next steps of the inquiry.
