Berlin Police Launch 'Let's Go—But Safely!' Campaign to Protect Elderly Pedestrians

Berlin Police, alongside unidentified local partners, will launch a road safety campaign in 2025. Titled 'Let’s Go—But Safely!', it aims to reduce traffic incidents involving older adults, a rising concern in 2024. The campaign, supported by the German Pedestrian Association (FUSS e.V.), will take place at five locations across Berlin from March 3 to 7, 2025.

The week-long campaign will run from Monday to Friday, with activities tailored to enhance the safety of elderly pedestrians. Participants can expect reaction time tests to assess their response to traffic situations, traffic rules quizzes to refresh their knowledge, and practical safety tips, especially for those using mobility aids. The campaign will take place at Spandau Arcades, Hanne-Sobek-Platz, Linden-Center, Tempelhof Harbor Shopping Center, and Mehringplatz, with varying timings each day.

The initiative comes as part of a broader effort to address the increasing number of traffic incidents involving older adults. While the specific organizations involved in this action are yet to be confirmed, similar initiatives often include local government agencies, transport authorities, and advocacy groups like the German Road Safety Council (DVR).
