Berlin Police Merge Two Precincts to Boost Security and Efficiency
Berlin Police have merged Precincts 27 and 28 into a single regional news division. The new unit, named Regional Division 27/28, follows six months of preparatory work. Officials describe the move as a response to rising demands on law enforcement resources.
The merger introduces an innovative organisational model aimed at improving efficiency. Officers will now manage continuous protection for 630 high-risk sites, including 175 embassies and 453 diplomatic facilities. Command structures have been streamlined to optimise personnel distribution.
The new division aims to strengthen street-level policing through better resource allocation. Operational changes, including specialised patrol units, are expected to enhance response capabilities. Further mergers will depend on the success of this initial restructuring.
