Suspects caught after spray-painting S-Bahn carriages - Berlin police nab three men after S-Bahn graffiti spree at Lichtenrade
Three men were caught tagging graffiti on an S-Bahn train at Lichtenrade station early Sunday morning. Police in plain clothes spotted the suspects in action and moved quickly to detain them as they tried to escape in a car.
The incident began when officers observed the trio defacing three carriages of a parked train. They covered an area of roughly 50 square metres with spray paint before attempting to flee the scene.
The suspects, aged between 31 and 40, were stopped in their vehicle shortly afterwards. Paint stains were found on their garments, and police seized gloves and spray cans from their possession. Some of the men were already known to authorities for previous graffiti-related offences.
All three were temporarily detained while officers launched an investigation into criminal damage.
The case will now proceed under criminal damage charges. Authorities continue to examine the evidence, including the seized materials and garments. The S-Bahn operator will assess the cost of repairs to the affected carriages.
