Restrictions on Berlin's Streets Due to Track Construction Work - Berlin shuts down two major streets for weeks of construction chaos

Major road closures have begun in Berlin’s Friedrichshain and Rummelsburg districts. Two key streets are now shut to traffic, causing disruptions for drivers and public transport users. The closures come as part of planned construction work by local authorities.

In Friedrichshain, Boxhagener Straße is fully closed at the height of Wismarplatz. The shutdown affects both directions and stems from ongoing track construction. Drivers are being redirected via Krossener Straße and Gryphiusstraße to bypass the affected area.

The closures will remain active for weeks, with Boxhagener Straße blocked indefinitely and Marktstraße restricted until December. Detours have been arranged, but delays are likely for commuters. Further updates on the Rummelsburg project are expected as the 2025 construction date approaches.
