Berlin Story Bunker reveals the dark chapters of the city’s past

The Berlin Story Bunker offers visitors a deep dive into the city’s turbulent past. Since 2007, the exhibition has guided guests through 30 stations, each packed with historical artefacts and stories. An audible guide helps navigate the experience, with organisers suggesting at least 2.5 hours for a full visit.

The journey begins with a striking visual timeline of the last 300 years at the Brandenburg Gate. From there, visitors move through key moments in Berlin’s history, including the struggles of the Trümmerfrauen (rubble women) and the lives of post-war refugees. Exhibits feature rare items like the first issue of Der Spiegel and sculptures of Bismarck and Frederick the Great.

One of the most detailed sections is Hitler – The Itinerary, which tracks adolf hitler’s movements and travels. The display includes a reconstruction of hitler’s bunker study and a precise model of the Führerbunker. Each station combines photos, films, objects, and information boards to create an immersive experience. The entire exhibition, titled Hitler – wie konnte es geschehen (How Could It Happen), was developed by the private Berlin Story Museum team. Co-founder Enno Lenze and a group of historians shaped the content to provide both depth and clarity.

The Berlin Story Bunker remains a key destination for those exploring the city’s complex history. The mix of audible guides, detailed exhibits, and immersive reconstructions ensures a thorough understanding of Berlin’s past. Visitors leave with a clearer picture of the events that shaped the capital over centuries.
