Berlin thieves smash into Steglitz shopping centre in daring overnight heist
A bold overnight break-in targeted a shopping centre in Berlin's Steglitz district. Around 3:30 a.m., three unidentified suspects rammed a car through the locked entrance of a retail store at the corner of Schlossstraße and Markelstraße. The thieves then made off with high-value goods before escaping in a second vehicle.
The incident began when the suspects forced their way into the premises by driving through the store's entrance. Once inside, they smashed several display cases and took jewellery and watches. The group had prepared their escape route in advance, abandoning the damaged car and fleeing in another vehicle waiting nearby. Witnesses reported seeing them head toward Feuerbachstraße.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the burglary. The case is now being handled by the specialist burglary unit of Police Directorate 4 (South). No further details about the suspects or their methods have been released at this stage.
The break-in remains under active investigation by Berlin police. The stolen items included luxury watches and jewellery, though their exact value has not been confirmed. Officers continue to review evidence from the scene as they work to identify those responsible.
