Robbery of Cash Transporter - Trial Against Four Men - Berlin trial begins for violent armored van heist with €2M stolen
Four men, aged between 21 and 26, will face trial for a violent cash-in-transit robbery in Berlin. The incident involved an ambush on an armored van, with shots fired and over €2 million stolen. Their trial begins this week at the Regional Court Berlin.
The robbery took place in March of last year when armed attackers targeted a cash-in-transit van. They opened fire before fleeing with 26 cash boxes containing more than €2 million. The van’s reinforced driver’s cabin prevented any injuries during the shooting.
Police quickly traced the getaway vehicle and recovered the stolen money along with the weapons used in the attack. Two months later, the four suspects were arrested and have been held in pretrial detention ever since. The court has set aside 23 days for the proceedings, with a verdict expected by May 11. Each defendant faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
The trial will examine the events of the armed heist and the roles of the accused. If convicted, the men could receive lengthy prison sentences for their involvement in the violent robbery. The case highlights the risks faced by cash-in-transit operations and the rapid police response that followed.
