Attack on Ex-Partner? Woman to be Permanently Committed to Psychiatric Care - Berlin: Woman Committed Long-Term to Psychiatric Hospital After Alleged Knife Attack
A 41-year-old woman is to be committed to a psychiatric hospital long-term following an alleged knife attack on her former partner in Berlin-Lichtenberg. The woman, accused of dangerous bodily harm and attempted manslaughter, is believed to be not guilty due to a severe mental illness, according to the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office.
The incident occurred in June, with emergency services temporarily arresting the woman at the scene. She allegedly attacked her former partner without reason, accusing him of sexually abusing their daughter. The 49-year-old partner suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body and was treated in a hospital. The woman sprayed him with an irritant and stabbed him multiple times with a knife, intending to kill him. The following day, she was temporarily committed to a psychiatric hospital. The name of the accused woman has not been publicly disclosed.
The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to seek a permanent placement of the woman in a psychiatric hospital, citing her serious mental health condition. The case highlights the importance of mental health support and the need for thorough evaluation in such incidents.
