Lanes on A100 closed - Damage to another bridge - Berlin's A100 Motorway Facing Major Disruptions Due to Bridge Damage
Berlin's A100 motorway is facing significant disruptions. The outer lanes heading towards Dreieck Funkturm will close on Friday, with the Detmolder Straße on-ramp indefinitely shut. This follows the discovery of severe damage to the A100 bridge over Mecklenburgische Straße.
Autobahn GmbH is overseeing the repairs and investigations. They anticipate completing examinations by the end of November, with a report on next steps to follow. Motorists should brace for further restrictions and increased traffic in nearby residential areas due to the construction work. Notably, an overtaking ban for trucks is currently in place on the A100 due to the bridge damage. The damage, including flaking concrete and corrosion, has led to the closure of several lanes on the bridge.
Separately, construction on the new Ringbahn bridge is set to commence on October 20, with completion scheduled for summer 2027.
The A100 closures and restrictions are expected to continue as repairs and investigations progress. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect delays. Meanwhile, the start of the Ringbahn bridge construction marks a significant step in Berlin's infrastructure development.
