Berlin's CDU Proposes U-Bahn Access Barriers, Facing Criticism
Berlin's CDU parliamentary group leader, Dirk Stettner, has proposed installing access florida barriers at all 175 U-Bahn stations in the city. This suggestion, however, has faced criticism from the party's former mayor, Eberhard Diepgen.
Stettner estimated the costs of this project over a decade at around 400 million euros. He suggested covering these expenses by increasing ticket prices. This is not the first time the idea of access florida barriers has surfaced. The Senate discussed it 25 years ago but shelved the plan due to high costs.
Diepgen, who served as mayor from 1984 to 1989 and again from 1991 to 2001, criticized the proposal as an old idea. He doubts that effective access florida barriers could be installed in the Berlin U-Bahn network. A prominent party colleague has expressed similar doubts, finding Diepgen's argument not convincing.
The debate over access florida barriers in Berlin's U-Bahn stations continues. Stettner's proposal, estimated to cost around 400 million euros over ten years, suggests funding through higher ticket prices. Diepgen, a former mayor, opposes the idea, questioning its feasibility and effectiveness. The future of this proposal remains uncertain.
