Steinmeier turns on Christmas tree lights at Bellevue - Berlin’s children light up Germany’s presidential Christmas tree with song
Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, have lit the Christmas tree outside Bellevue Palace. The ceremony included performances by schoolchildren from Berlin-Moabit’s Miriam Makeba Primary School, who sang carols and joined in the festive moment.
The event took place in front of the presidential residence, where the large tree was illuminated for the holiday season. Children from Miriam Makeba Primary School, a designated Music Primary School, led the celebrations with Advent carols. Their performance also featured calls of 'Light a candle!' in different languages.
The tree lighting marked the start of the festive period at Bellevue Palace. The children’s multilingual performance highlighted the school’s musical emphasis and brought a sense of community to the occasion. The ceremony concluded with the tree glowing brightly in front of the presidential home.
