Berlin’s Friedrichshain welcomes 100+ new apartments by 2024

A new housing development is taking shape in Berlin-Friedrichshain, near Ostkreuz station. French property group Covivio is building over a hundred apartments along Sonntagstraße, between Holteistraße and Lenbachstraße. The project is set to finish in 2024, adding much-needed residential space to the area.

The development expands an existing perimeter block, keeping the original firewalls and eave height intact. Each new courtyard building will house 17 units, with most of the construction already complete. Once the final corner building is finished, the entire project will offer more than a hundred apartments for rent.

The 4,218-square-metre plot sits in a busy part of Friedrichshain, close to public transport links. Berlin’s BVG has also announced plans for a new news line near the site in the coming years, improving access for future residents.

The project is on track for completion in 2024, adding new homes to a growing neighbourhood. With the news line expansion planned, transport connections around the development will likely improve further. The finished buildings will blend into the existing streetscape while increasing local housing options.
