Berlin's Hertzallee to Gain Four High-Rises, Including KI-Tower for TU Berlin
Berlin's urban landscape is set to change with a major development project in the Hertzallee area. The bus terminal will temporarily relocate to Hardenbergplatz to facilitate construction, which is expected to begin in about four years.
The Hardenbergplatz will not see high-rise buildings but will evolve into a central transport hub, connected to the city's tram network in the long term. The project, a collaboration between the Senate Department for Urban Development, Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, and Projekt Berlin Hertzallee GmbH, aims to create an urban campus with university-related uses, offices, and apartments.
Four high-rise buildings, ranging from 75 to 110 meters tall, are planned for the Hertzallee in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Together, they will add approximately 150,000 square meters of gross floor area, including a 'KI-Tower' dedicated to the Technical University of Berlin. The Huthmacher-Haus on Hardenbergplatz will also undergo modernization and comprehensive renovation in the coming years.
The Hertzallee project promises significant growth and transformation in Berlin-Charlottenburg. With four high-rise buildings and a modernized Huthmacher-Haus, the area will gain substantial gross floor area, including a dedicated space for the Technical University of Berlin. The project's long-term vision includes a central transport hub at Hardenbergplatz, connected to the city's tram network.
