Berlin's Mandatory ePA Rollout Begins Today
As of today, the use of the electronic patient record (ePA) becomes mandatory for healthcare providers in Berlin. Around 70 million insured persons have already received an ePA from their health insurance company since January. The ePA aims to streamline document exchange between medical practices and pharmacies.
Nearly all medical practices in Berlin are prepared for this change, with only about 5% still needing to install the necessary ePA module. Starting today, doctors are required to enter new diagnoses and findings into the e-record. Hospitals and pharmacies are also obligated to use the ePA.
The ePA's rollout has seen mixed experiences. Some practices are very satisfied, while others face access problems and document upload errors. Despite this, the ePA is expected to facilitate smoother communication between healthcare providers.
The ePA's mandatory use for healthcare providers in Berlin begins today, with almost all medical practices ready for the change. The ePA is intended to improve document exchange, and while some practices face initial challenges, it is expected to benefit the healthcare system in the long run.
