Berlin's Mosques Open Doors for 25th Annual Open Mosque Day

Berlin's mosques are once again inviting the public to explore their places of worship and learn about their faith during the annual Open Mosque Day. This year's event, held on October 3, follows the tradition established in 1997 and sees at least 14 mosques participating city-wide.

The Open Mosque Day, now in its 25th year, aims to foster exchange and reduce prejudices among different communities. It offers visitors a chance to explore the architecture and culture of Berlin's mosques, with guided tours, lectures, exhibitions, and cultural performances on offer. This year's theme, 'Faith as a Compass of Humanity', encourages reflection on the role of faith in guiding human behaviour and promoting peace.

The Open Mosque Day is part of the larger Muslim Cultural Week, which kicked off on September 19 with the theme 'Peace through Dialogue'. Over 50 events are planned during this week, including exhibitions, workshops, and guided tours. On German Unity Day, many mosques will also open their doors to visitors, providing an opportunity for dialogue and understanding.

The Open Mosque Day in Berlin continues to serve as a vital platform for interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange. With its 2025 theme already announced as 'Faith as a Compass of Humanity', it looks set to continue promoting understanding and reducing prejudices for years to come.
