Berlin’s New €50M Eco-Housing Project Aims for EU Taxonomy Certification by 2027

Catella Project Management GmbH is developing a sustainability-focused building at the intersection of Silbersteinstraße and Eschersheimer Straße in Berlin-Neukölln. The project, part of Catella Group’s nationwide CILG investment program, aims to create affordable housing and contribute to sustainable urban area development in Berlin.

The development, scheduled for completion in 2027, includes 92 rental apartments, 24 of which are publicly subsidized, and a spacious ground-floor retail space. The project seeks EU Taxonomy-aligned ESG verification, implementing ESG-compliant standards due to its large-scale nature and potential impact on the environment and sustainability.

The mixed-use design separates residential and commercial areas while ensuring functional connectivity. A landscaped inner courtyard above the retail space will serve as a protected area for relaxation and social interaction. The project volume is around €50 million with a gross floor area of approximately 9,600 square meters.

Catella, the project developer, is committed to sustainable finance practices, with the Silbersteinstraße development subject to the EU Taxonomy certification process. Upon completion in 2027, the project is expected to provide affordable housing and contribute to the sustainable development of Berlin-Neukölln.
