Berlin’s new €7.6M fire station in Tegelort boosts emergency response times

Berlin has opened a new fire station in Tegelort, marking another step in the city’s plan to modernise emergency services. The €7.6 million facility was inaugurated in December 2022, with officials praising its role in improving response times across northwest Berlin. The project is part of a wider programme to replace ageing stations with energy-efficient buildings.

The station’s design includes a single-story vehicle bay with space for three fire engines and a two-story administrative block. Covering 1,465 square meters, the complex can house up to 37 emergency responders. Its eco-friendly features include photovoltaic panels, a heat pump, a rainwater retention roof, and courtyard cisterns for water reuse.

The Tegelort station will serve as a key hub for emergency operations in northwest Berlin. Its advanced design and sustainable features reflect the city’s commitment to both efficiency and environmental responsibility. The facility is now fully operational, supporting faster response times for the surrounding area.
