Berlin’s New Portal Explores How Shared Living Spaces Strengthen Communities

A new online portal called Living Spaces of Society will launch this evening at the Futurzwei Kantine in Berlin’s Friedrichstraße. The event will bring together artists, activists, and local residents to discuss the role of shared community spaces in modern life. The latest issue of Futurzwei magazine also focuses on this theme, highlighting how such places strengthen social bonds and democratic values.

The Living Spaces of Society portal explores innovative living concepts and community-driven spaces. It grew from urban social design projects, particularly those linked to micro-living and collective housing in Germany and Europe. The launch will feature talks from people who have created and maintained similar spaces, sharing their firsthand experiences.

The launch of the Living Spaces of Society portal aims to inspire more projects that bring people together. Research suggests that shared physical spaces help individuals feel connected and support democratic engagement. Tonight’s event in Berlin marks another step in promoting these ideas across Germany.
