Berlin’s Ringbahn bridges face years of reconstruction starting in 2026

Berlin has announced major reconstruction work on four key bridges along the Ringbahn route in Prenzlauer Berg. The projects will span several years, with the first demolitions starting in late 2026 and the last expected to finish by 2031. Officials confirm the bridges require full replacement due to outdated and high-risk construction methods.

The Dunckerstraße bridge, a crucial connection over the Ringbahn linking local streets to nearby residential areas, will be the first to undergo work. Reconstruction is set to begin in early 2026 and continue until 2028.

The renovations will disrupt transport links in Prenzlauer Berg for years. Once finished, the new bridges will replace ageing infrastructure that no longer meets modern safety standards. The final completion date for all projects is set for 2031.
