Berlin's S-Bahn faces major closures and bus replacements in late March

Major disruptions are coming to Berlin's S-Bahn network in late March and early April. Several key lines will face closures and replacement services due to construction work. Passengers on the Ringbahn and other routes should prepare for changes to their usual journeys.

From March 30 to April 13, the S-Bahn Ringbahn will be suspended between Treptower Park and Tempelhof. During this period, the S41 and S42 lines will operate replacement buses along the same stretch. The S46 and S47 will also terminate at Treptower Park, with buses covering the closed section.

A separate closure affects the S-Bahn between Teltow Stadt and Lichterfelde Ost from March 27 to April 13. Track renewal work in Lichterfelde Süd means the S25 and S26 lines will only run as far as Lankwitz.

Further disruptions will hit the S46 line from March 17 to May 11, 2026, between Königs Wusterhausen and Tempelhof. Replacement buses, including RE6/RE46 and RE7, will run directly between stations, while local routes like 172 and X46 will provide extra connections.

The closures will affect thousands of daily commuters across Berlin. Replacement buses will maintain connections, but travellers should check schedules in advance. The work is part of ongoing upgrades to the city's rail infrastructure.
