Berlin's Tempelhofer Feld Gets €10.82M Upgrade for Outdoor Activities
Berlin is investing heavily in its public spaces. The Land Berlin is allocating around 10.82 million euros for the construction work on the Oderstraße section of Tempelhofer Feld. This is part of a comprehensive upgrade set to be completed by the end of 2025.
The Crash Gate entrance is currently under renovation. It is being widened to 21.5 meters and will be fully barrier-free upon completion. This is one of several measures aimed at improving the Oderstraße section.
The Green Berlin foundation, acting as the client, is coordinating these construction works. The foundation is also responsible for creating new recreational spaces in the peripheral area of Tempelhofer Feld. So far, five such spaces have been realized, with two more expected this fall. These include a dog park and a fitness area near Okerstraße and the northern ring railway.
The new recreational areas offer visitors and the local community more opportunities for outdoor sports. The fitness areas, covering approximately 200 and 150 square meters each, cater to people of all fitness levels. They provide residents and visitors with free and easily accessible training options. Two such areas have already been added to the Oderstraße section since early September.
The Land Berlin's investment in Tempelhofer Feld is transforming the area into a hub for outdoor activities. With the completion of the Oderstraße section and the addition of more recreational spaces, the field promises to offer even more opportunities for sports and leisure. The Green Berlin foundation's efforts ensure that these new areas are sustainable and respect the protected heritage of Tempelhofer Feld.
