Berlin’s Tempelhofer Feld gets safer, greener upgrades with public input
Berlin's Tempelhofer Feld is set for improvements with public involvement starting soon. The Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection, and the Environment has commissioned Grün Berlin Foundation to enhance the Tempelhofer Damm and Südflanke sections. The first public event is scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The planned measures include upgrading entrance areas, creating barrier-free and inclusive leisure and sports facilities, and boosting overall stay quality. Meanwhile, the Crash Gate at Oderstraße has been revamped with wider paths, new seating, and improved traffic safety. The culinary offering 'Blaue Stunde' will return to its previous location next to the Crash Gate in spring.
Speed bumps have been installed to slow traffic and ensure safety for cyclists and pedestrians. The southeastern main entrance to Tempelhofer Feld is now fully accessible again after months of construction. The Crash Gate now spans 21.5 meters in width and features a renewed turnstile. The participation event will discuss topics such as entrance areas, leisure activities, and accessibility. Although the adjacent grassy area remains closed for recovery, the circular path around Tempelhofer Feld remains open. Fourteen new bicycle parking spaces and a bench have been added at the Crash Gate.
Public participation begins on November 8, 2025, with a focus on enhancing Tempelhofer Damm and Südflanke sections. The Crash Gate's renovation and added amenities aim to improve user experience and safety. The event will gather input on entrance areas, leisure activities, and accessibility, ensuring Tempelhofer Feld remains a welcoming space for all.
