Bhopal police crack down on bold mobile phone snatching spree
Bhopal police have made significant progress in a series of mobile phone snatchings that occurred on 11 and 12 November. The main accused, an 18-year-old named Fardeen Khan, has confessed to multiple incidents. Three individuals, including a minor, have been detained in connection with one of the thefts.
The spree began on 11 November near JP Hospital, where Sudhir Kumar Dubey, a Personal Assistant to the Deputy CM of Madhya Pradesh, had his mobile phone snatched. The accused, riding a motorcycle, made a quick getaway. Police launched an extensive investigation, reviewing footage from 250 CCTV cameras and enlisting the help of informers. Their efforts led them to the accused near Banganga.
The trio, which included Khan, had stolen a total of eight mobile phones and a motorcycle, valued at Rs 4 lakh. This is believed to be the first time such a large-scale mobile phone snatching operation has been uncovered in Bhopal.
Fardeen Khan's confession and the detention of the three individuals have provided crucial breakthroughs in the case. The recovered mobile phones and motorcycle have been returned to their rightful owners. Police continue to investigate any potential links between these incidents and other mobile phone thefts in the city.
