Bhopal's Big Voter Enrollment Drive: Youth Turning 18 Included
Bhopal is preparing for a crucial voter registration campaign, with individuals turning 18 by January 2026 eligible to participate. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has concluded Booth Level Officer (BLO) training, and an ECI team will visit Bhopal to evaluate Special Intensive Revision (SIR) preparations.
The trained BLOs will assist voters in completing forms and verify family details according to the 2003 SIR system. House-to-house enumeration will commence on November 4 and conclude on December 3, with BLOs visiting each residence thrice. The CEO of Bhopal has proposed that Municipal Corporation Commissioners serve as Additional District Election Officers, a first for the role. If approved, they will oversee house surveys conducted by BLOs. The ECI team may hold a review meeting during their visit to Bhopal.
The voter registration campaign, including youth turning 18 by January 2026, is set to commence. The ECI's visit to Bhopal will ensure readiness for the SIR process. The CEO's proposal, if approved, will introduce a new approach to election management in Bhopal.
