Bhopal’s First Digital Malkhana Transforms Police Evidence Handling with Barcodes
Bhopal has launched its first digital Malkhana at the TT Nagar police station. Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra officially opened the facility, marking a shift from manual record-keeping to a tech-driven system. The move is part of the national Digital India Mission to modernise police operations.
The new e-Malkhana replaces traditional paper-based tracking with a fully digitalised process. Every seized item—from evidence to vehicles—now receives a unique barcode and QR code. These codes allow instant scanning, documentation, and real-time monitoring of stored properties.
The QR and barcode-based system ensures tighter control over seized goods and case-related properties. By reducing manual paperwork, the digital Malkhana is set to streamline police workflows and strengthen evidence management. The model may soon expand to other stations as part of broader modernisation efforts.
