Bhopal's New Revenue Drive: Rs 240 Crore Target in 22 Weeks
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a new weekly target-based revenue collection system. The ambitious plan aims to recover Rs 51.24 crore in property tax and Rs 37.75 crore in water tax, with a total target of Rs 240.43 crore for the current financial year.
The drive is split into two categories: recovering 25% of old dues and collecting 100% from current year defaulters. All 21 zonal officers and ward incharges are assigned weekly collection goals, with their progress determining performance reviews. The first week's targets are Rs 4.25 crore from old dues and Rs 6.46 crore from current year dues. The system aims to collect Rs 240 crore in 22 weeks.
The Executive Engineer is responsible for effectively implementing this target-oriented system and accountable for achieving the Rs 240.43 crore target for the current financial year.
