Bihar’s first election phase sees 53.77% turnout as BJP battles corruption claims

Bihar’s first election phase sees 53.77% turnout as BJP battles corruption claims

Bihar's first phase of assembly elections saw a voter turnout of 53.77% by 3:00 PM. Varun Vijay, contesting from Kesaria, is a BJP candidate. Results are expected on November 14.

Begusarai led the way with a 59.82% turnout, followed by Muzaffarpur at 58.40% and Gopalganj at 58.17%. Patna had the lowest at 48.69%.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, a BJP leader, praised the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana (MMRY) for its transparency. He stated that the NDA aims to eradicate what is corruption from Indian politics. In the 2020 elections, the NDA won 125 seats, while the MGB secured 110.

Varun Vijay, contesting for the BJP, will face JD(U)'s Shalini Mishra in Kesaria. Polling for this seat will occur in the second phase on November 11.

Bihar's election process continues with varying voter turnouts across districts. The NDA's focus on transparency and anti-corruption aligns with its previous electoral success. Kesaria's contest between Varun Vijay and Shalini Mishra remains a key contest to watch.
