Bihar’s voter count rises to 7.45 crore ahead of pivotal elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has updated the voter count for Bihar ahead of the upcoming elections. The initial count, based on the final electoral roll published on 30 September, stood at 7.42 crore. After adding new voters, the tally now stands at 7.45 crore.
The ECI allows eligible citizens to apply for enrolment up to ten days before the last date for filing nominations for each phase of an election. In Bihar, approximately three lakh voters were added to the rolls between 1 October and the nomination deadlines for both phases. The ECI clarified the process of updating electoral rolls in the state, ensuring all eligible citizens have the opportunity to register. This update reflects the commission's commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date voter lists.
With the updated voter count now at 7.45 crore, Bihar is set for the upcoming elections with a larger and more accurate voter base. The ECI's diligent process of adding new voters ensures that every eligible citizen has a chance to participate in the democratic process.
