Bintz-Verlag Expands Influence, Secures Future With Major Regional Takeover
Bintz-Verlag, part of the Ippen Group, is set to expand its influence and secure a sustainable future for its brands. Starting January 1, 2026, it will take over the marketing for Frankfurter Neue Presse, Frankfurter Rundschau, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The move comes as FAZ GmbH sells its shares in RheinMainMedia GmbH to Frankfurter Societäts-Medien GmbH, relinquishing regional marketing control.
The newly formed RheinMain.Media sales unit, led by Jelisaweta Scherdel, will serve around 4,500 active business clients. Its distribution network will span 150 km east to west and 90 km north to south. Scherdel, who also manages marketing functions for Bintz Verlag media, takes over from Achim Pflüger, who is retiring at the end of the year with the dissolution of RheinMainMedia GmbH.
The combined reach of RheinMain.Media's newspapers totals 815,000 daily readers, with free weeklies reaching up to 785,000 households. Its digital portals attract an average of 93.5 million monthly visits. Bintz-Verlag will market these titles alongside its own publications and free advertising papers with a dedicated team of 60.
Bintz-Verlag's expansion aims to grow its market share and ensure a sustainable future for its brands. The takeover of marketing for major regional titles and the formation of RheinMain.Media signal a significant step in this direction. While some back-office positions have been cut, all media consultants from RheinMainMedia GmbH have been offered contracts with Bintz-Verlag.
