BJP's Delhi Reopens Chhath Puja Ghat, Boosting Festive Spirit Among Local Bihar Community
Chhath Puja celebrations have kicked off on October 25, with millions of devotees from across India and Nepal participating. Notably, the BJP government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has reopened the Chhath Puja Ghat near the Yamuna Bank Metro station, a move welcomed by the local Bihar community.
Chhath Puja, a significant festival dedicated to the Sun God, is celebrated six days after Diwali. This year, it began on Saturday, October 25. The festival is predominantly observed by people from the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and the Madhesh region of Nepal.
The reopening of the Chhath Puja Ghat is a significant development. It was closed in 2020 by the previous AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal. However, the current BJP government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has shown enthusiasm in celebrating all festivals, unlike its predecessor. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva played a key role in reopening the ghat, ensuring that the local Bihar community, particularly those living in nearby areas like Laxmi Nagar and Pandav Nagar, can now celebrate Chhath Puja with ease.
The reopening of the Chhath Puja Ghat is expected to enhance the festive spirit among the local Bihar community in Delhi. It also reflects the BJP government's commitment to promoting all festivals and ensuring the well-being of different communities in the city.
