LOT Polish Airlines Unveils Modernized Boeing 737 MAX 8 Cabins
LOT Polish Airlines has taken a significant step towards modernising its aircraft cabins, with the completion of the first set of seats for its upcoming Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet at the Recaro factory in Swiebodzin, Poland. This initiative is part of a broader aim to create a travel experience that blends modern technologies, premium materials, and a distinctly Polish touch.
The new seats, manufactured by RECARO Aircraft Seating, are a key component of this transformation. Known as the RECARO R2 seats, they offer a host of features designed to enhance passenger comfort and convenience. Each seat boasts a dedicated 60W power outlet for fast charging of electronic devices, a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) holder for easy use of tablets or smartphones, and six-way adjustable headrests for added comfort.
Other notable features include a 4-inch recline capability, extended armrests for improved personal space, contoured backrests with comfort foam cushions, and lightweight sliding tray tables. The seats are adorned with genuine leather dress covers in LOT’s signature blue colour, featuring the airline’s logo embroidered on a backrest seam tag.
The seats weigh under 10 kilograms, aiding in reducing aircraft weight, contributing to fuel efficiency, and lowering CO2 emissions. Moreover, they are manufactured exclusively at RECARO’s Poland facility, supporting local production.
The design of the RECARO R2 seats focuses on ergonomics, passenger comfort, and sustainability. They are also equipped with Astronics high-power USB-C ports for device charging.
This modernisation strategy extends beyond the Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet. The interiors will be completely redesigned, drawing inspiration from LOT Polish Airlines' Polonez business lounges in Warsaw and Chicago. The goal is to create a unified look across the entire fleet, aligning the new design with the cabin style of the Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are also set for a comprehensive interior upgrade.
LOT's decision to equip its new aircraft with RECARO seats was driven by a commitment to passenger comfort, durability, and quality. The seats are part of a thirteen-plane order arriving around the end of the year. This move is part of LOT's wider cabin modernization strategy, aiming to enhance the passenger experience while aligning with sustainability and operational efficiency goals.
