Man Shot with Crossbow - Seriously Injured - Bordesholm crossbow attack leaves 73-year-old critically injured after dispute
A violent confrontation in Bordesholm left a 73-year-old man with severe injuries after being attacked with a crossbow. The incident unfolded following an argument between the victim and a 37-year-old man, who was later arrested by police.
The attack took place in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district, where the two men became involved in a heated dispute. During the altercation, the younger man fired a medieval-style crossbow at the older victim, causing critical harm. A relative of the injured man immediately contacted emergency services, prompting a swift response.
Police arrived at the scene and quickly detained the suspect. Officers also recovered the crossbow used in the assault. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment of his serious wounds. Authorities confirmed there is no wider risk to the public. While crossbow-related violence is rare in Schleswig-Holstein, police records show broader efforts to manage domestic disputes, including risk assessments and electronic monitoring for high-risk cases.
The 37-year-old attacker remains in custody as investigations continue. The injured man's condition is being monitored in hospital. Police have not reported similar incidents involving historical weapons in the region recently.
