Boris Maksudov Street to Appear in Krasnodar
A street in Krasnodar will now bear the name of war correspondent Boris Maksudov, who died while reporting from Donbas. The city council approved the honour unanimously, following a proposal from deputy Maxim Zhmutsky. Maksudov was also posthumously awarded the Order of Courage for his work.
Boris Maksudov covered the conflict in Donbas from the beginning of the special military operation. In November 2023, he was killed while filming in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. His death prompted calls for recognition of his bravery and contribution.
The initiative to commemorate Maksudov began with Krasnodar City Duma deputies. Deputy Maxim Zhmutsky formally put forward the proposal, which gained full support from the council. As part of the tribute, a street in the Prikubansky District will now carry his name. In addition to the street naming, the city awarded Maksudov the Order of Courage. The honour reflects his dedication to reporting from the front lines, even at great personal risk.
The decision ensures Maksudov’s legacy will be remembered in Krasnodar. A street in the Prikubansky District will serve as a permanent reminder of his work. The Order of Courage further acknowledges his sacrifice while documenting the conflict.
