Bosnian woman to stand trial for elderly theft and fraud scheme in Germany
A 33-year-old woman from Bosnia and Herzegovina will face trial at Freiburg District Court on March 2. The defendant is charged with conspiring with two others to rob elderly individuals between February 10, 2022, and March 23, 2023. Prosecutors claim the group stole wallets, withdrew cash, and used victims' debit cards for unauthorized transactions. Over this period, they allegedly obtained more than €17,000 illegally. The suspects reportedly accessed victims' PINs or codes stored in stolen wallets to carry out the fraud. While the defendant remains in pretrial detention, no other arrests or charges have been officially linked to the case. The trial will assess eight counts of aggravated gang theft and 20 counts of computer fraud. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM in Courtroom 4 of the Freiburg District Court. The court will determine whether the charges hold and if the defendant played a role in the alleged crimes. The trial will focus on evidence linking the defendant to the thefts and fraudulent transactions. If convicted, she could face significant legal consequences for her involvement in the scheme. The outcome will clarify her role in the crimes and the extent of the financial harm caused.
