Brandenburg an der Havel's Residential Quarter Plan Kicks Off With Citizen Engagement

Brandenburg an der Havel's city council has initiated a development plan for the 'Residential Quarter Friedrich-Engels-Straße / Einsteinstraße'. A citizen information event, held on 06.10.2025, marked the start of early public participation. The event, attended by around 60 citizens, aimed to gather ideas and suggestions for the 5.1-hectare former industrial site.

The event, held at Havelschule, was part of the city's commitment to early public participation as per § 3 Paragraph 1 of the Building Code (BauGB). Citizens exchanged views with planners and the administration, with several questions discussed on the spot.

The development plan, decided on 25.06.2025, seeks to create legal prerequisites for a mixed-use residential quarter. This includes various housing types, social infrastructure, barrier-free and care housing, and a local supplier for daily needs. The planning area, approximately 5.1 hectares, is located in the Walzwerksiedlung west of the city center, bounded by Einsteinstraße and Friedrich-Engels-Straße.

The presentation by the planning office CESA and the event protocol are available on the city's official website. All suggestions and comments from the event will be integrated into the further processing of the development plan.

The city of Brandenburg an der Havel has taken a significant step towards redeveloping the former industrial site into a vibrant residential quarter. With public participation underway, the city administration looks forward to incorporating citizen ideas into the development plan.
