Landtag provides information on MPs' secondary activities - Brandenburg lawmakers disclose lucrative side jobs amid transparency rules

Members of Brandenburg’s state parliament earn a base salary of around €10,000 gross per month. Yet many also report significant extra income from side jobs. Transparency rules require them to disclose these earnings publicly to avoid conflicts of interest.

Under Brandenburg’s disclosure rules, lawmakers must declare outside income, including corporate roles, advisory positions, or self-employment. Only very minor earnings are exempt from detailed reporting.

The disclosures reveal a range of extra earnings among Brandenburg’s legislators. From self-employment to party roles, many supplement their €10,000 monthly salary with thousands more. The transparency rules ensure these financial ties remain public to prevent potential conflicts.
