Steeven Bretz new CDU faction leader in Brandenburg - Brandenburg's CDU elects Steeven Bretz as new parliamentary leader
Brandenburg's CDU parliamentary group has chosen Steeven Bretz as its new leader. The 50-year-old financial expert secured the role with strong support from colleagues. Meanwhile, the state's new red-black coalition government has also appointed key figures to its cabinet.
Bretz, who has represented his party in the state legislature since 2009, won the leadership vote with eleven out of twelve ballots. His election marks a shift in the CDU's parliamentary direction.
Alongside this change, Jan Redmann has taken on the role of interior minister and deputy minister-president. The coalition has also selected Danny Eichelbaum as its new parliamentary manager, a position confirmed by unanimous approval with all twelve votes in favour.
The appointments signal a fresh political lineup in Brandenburg. Bretz now leads the CDU faction, while Redmann and Eichelbaum assume critical roles in the new government. Their positions will shape the state's legislative and executive work in the coming term.
